We are delighted to welcome the great Harry Pearson to The Dynamo in Putney to talk about his new book, 'The Beast, The Emperor and The Milkman: A Bone-shaking Tour through Cycling's Flemish Heartlands.'
Harry spent two months in Flanders during the Spring Classics, immersing himself in the cycling community and 'The Beast...' is the result: a book that brings the atmosphere, passion and occasional craziness around Belgium's biggest (and some of its smallest) races to life.
As he celebrates the Belgians' enthusiasm for road racing, terrible weather and fancy dress, Harry seeks to explain why the country produces twice as many professional cyclists as Italy and France.
It is the latest of Harry Pearson's acclaimed books exploring sporting heartlands: his 'The Far Corner', on football in the North East, was chosen as one of the top 50 sports books of all time by both The Times and The Observer. Harry has been a longtime columnist for When Saturday Comes and The Guardian, as well as a contributor to GQ and Conde Nast Traveller.
Please join us at The Dynamo for what is sure to be a great evening. We have limited tickets available, so please book in advance to ensure your place.
